WRITTEN STATEMENT:
This piece aims to honor the small moments in life and how each second and moment contains so much beauty worth elevating. I did this by starting the video with a close-up of an eye blinking to symbolize how this video captures quick moments in time and emphasizes visual observation. Adding to this effect, I made each frame short and fast in a choppy, irregular manner, like a blink. The videos I have chosen highlight the regular moments in life, including home videos of a child simply playing with their parents, trains passing back, water moving, and flowers growing: things that happen daily but are often disregarded. The music adds to this quality of celebration as the tune is happy and becomes louder as we give more and more time to elevate these moments. In watching this video, I hope viewers will reflect on the simple experiences of their lives that ultimately connect us to this universal human experience that makes every moment between a blink of an eye worth celebrating. Perhaps pausing to absorb the current world around you in these beautiful, consistent, small moments that consume much more time than monumental moments can create a richer perspective of life.
PROJECT PROPOSAL:
With my digital project, I want to honor the small moments in life that often go overlooked. My focus will be on the simple experiences of living, such as the sun rising, the plants growing, the laughter of your loved ones, and other small happenings of each day. I hope my video reminds people how much beauty lies in each moment and encourages them to pause and appreciate each moment in time.
